You know the drill. It’s 11 PM on a Sunday, you’re in the middle of a movie, and suddenly the house goes dark. You listen closely. Is it a general power outage? No, your neighbor’s AC is still humming. Then you hear it—the dreaded beep-beep-beep of your prepaid meter. Your electricity is finished.

Welcome to the Nigerian struggle. But getting your power back shouldn't be part of the struggle. Whether you call them NEPA or PHCN, Vtyield is your fast pass to buying electricity tokens online for any Distribution Company (DISCO) in Nigeria without leaving your couch.

Making Sense of Tariff Bands (A to E)

Before you buy, let’s talk about those Tariff Bands everyone has been arguing about. The government grouped electricity consumers based on how many hours of power they get:

  • Band A: The VIPs. 20+ hours of power daily. The catch? You pay a premium rate.

  • Bands B to E: Gradually fewer hours of guaranteed power, but at cheaper rates per kilowatt.
  • Your meter is locked to a specific band based on your location. You don't get to choose, unfortunately!

Meter Rejecting Your Token? (The KCT Drama)

You bought the token, but your meter is saying "REJECT" and acting stubborn. Don't panic.

Most times, this means your meter needs a Key Change Token (KCT) upgrade. The system recently rolled out upgrades across the country. If you haven't upgraded, your meter won't accept new regular tokens.

How to fix it: When you buy electricity on Vtyield, if your meter is due for an upgrade, the system will generate three sets of 20-digit numbers.
    1. Punch in the first 20 digits and press Enter.
    2. Punch in the second 20 digits and press Enter.
    3. Finally, punch in your actual electricity token.
